Where’s Robert been lately? A good question!
The last few months I’ve been working for my company SMSMarshall Ltd, to produce a ConfigMgr related product, coded in C# using Visual Studio 2013, while trying to weave in day to day consultancy work, community activities, family, Baby boy arrived, friends, life. Man, Q1 and Q2 of 2014 really got crazy busy for me.
I had the notion of controlling Management Point usage in System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP1 and R2, so, I set out to achieve this goal. I wanted to localise usage of Management Points to stop WAN activity for the Management Point and the Client Communication Channel, and to make ConfigMgr a better Global Network tenant overall, especially since she does such a good job with Content localisation already.
We’re pretty much done at SMSMarshall, LocationAware™ is getting its final scrub-down, one more code-check then she’ll be packaged up and made available for purchase at a very reasonable price.
Here’s a screenshot of the LocationAware™ Console for controlling Management Points in the Hierarchy:
Anyone notice that very interesting boundary type? Extra points to those that know how useful that will be
And here’s the Agent logging its activity:

Keep an eye on the product landing page as I’ll be preparing it for the release by the end of next week (circa 29th of June 2014).
I want to thank my Beta testers, in no particular order, who have helped me with feedback and testing, great work guys:
Thanks for helping with feedback, testing, and for having a laugh on our ad-hoc betatester mailing list. Was great fun, I told you collaborating with an MVP is immense fun! More to come!
